Ways You're Sabotaging Your Relationship With YourLandlord

Everything is running smoothly, you move into a new home, you're feeling really good because the vibe is great and suddenly everything's changed. In particular, your landlord is always giving you that "look". So before you confront him, why don't you evaluate how things were going since you've moved in?

While some would say, "why would I care?", it is still nice to show your landlord respect and politeness because you'll be dealing with him for quite a while and it's always better if there is harmony in every relationship.

Here are some of the reasons why your landlord is suddenly irked.

Late Rent

Look at it this way, if you're waiting for someone to pay for something, wouldn't you get mad if he can't pay on time? After all, he promised he'll return it in a timely manner?
Same goes for monthly rent. You and your landlord had an agreement and unless there is an emergency which you have to let him know, you should pay on time. You have an obligation that you shouldn't take for granted no matter what the circumstances are.

When You're Neglecting Your Rented Home

You don't really have to clean your surroundings everyday if you don't have time but it will put your landlord in a good mood if you can show him that you're alloting time to take care of what you're renting. A little dusting off and sweeping will go a long way.

Your Neighbors

Talk to your neighbor if there is something bothering you because it's not your landlord's responsibility to meditate between you and him unless it's something serious and it's written on your agreement that you can contact him when there are problems between renters.

Your Housemates

Before you move in, one of the inclusions in the agreement you'll be signing is whether you have roommates or pets. If any of these are not allowed then don't hide them from your landlord because you wouldn't want to give him a wrong impression about you much more, file legal action against you.

Communication Barriers

Everything that involves the rent means that you should be talking about it to your landlord. If you have issues, tell him. If you have requests, tell him because no one is going to do that for you and even if you ask someone to do so, what kind of impression are you giving? This will only anger him which in turn might result to him blacklisting you.

Maintenance

While it is your landlord's duty to have your place checked up and maintained regularly, it is also your duty to ensure that you're using the appliances, fixtures and other things carefully. Just because you don't own the place, you'll neglect it.
You can also remind your landlord to do routine check in case he's  forgetting, this way he is aware that you also care for the place.

Insurance

Getting a renter insurance will certainly delight your landlord because not only are you protecting your valuables, you are also protecting the place you're renting by availing it.

Lease Terms

When you take your lease term agreement for granted, you give out a bad signal to your landlord that you couldn't care less about the place you're renting and not following through can also put you in a difficult position like additional fees and worst, eviction.

Complaining

It's not a crime to complain but when you keep on complaining and when most are baseless then your landlord will see you as someone who is shallow and won't bother the next time you complain something important.
